Aratek recently introduced A700-M, the FBI PIV and Mobile ID FAP 30 certified optical fingerprint module with larger sensing area and Live Finger Detection (LFD) technology.
Designed for applications that require an even higher standard of security and accuracy, the A700-M is equipped with a larger sensor that enables the module to cover a much bigger surface area and capture more biometric data from fingerprints. “Capturing more biometric data results in a vastly more accurate and secure authentication,” noted Samuel Wu, Aratek’s VP for International Business Department.
The A700-M carries the FBI PIV Mobile ID FAP30 certification, widely acknowledged in the industry to be the best seal of quality for biometric hardware, as it proves a product to be of high quality, has a larger capture area with greater accuracy, and is capable of operating in mobile environments. Wu revealed that the A700-M has a sensor area of 20.32 x 25.4 mm, which can produce an image size of 400 x 500 pixels. It also compliant with ISO19794-2, ISO19794-4, ANSI 378, ANSI 381, WSQ standards and has an image distortion rate of less 1%, making it ideal for high quality fingerprint capture.
“The high quality captures performed by the A700-M weeds out false negatives where valid samples are wrongly rejected by system,” said Wu, adding that the many applications including payments, banking, healthcare services, voter registrations, network security, and many others would benefit greatly from the new fingerprint module.
The A700-M uses Aratek’s NIST MINEX III compliance algorithm to enable the highest extracting and matching performance. It can drive accurate and fast matching speed of 0.1 sec for 1:1, <0.5 sec for 1:N. “The A700-M fingerprint sensor provides the backbone for a system that is seamless, convenient, and secure. In payments, for example, it minimizes failed matches in authentication that could result in customer dissatisfaction and costly delays in payment processing,” Wu said.
The A700-M also comes with Live Finger Detection(LFD), which rejects spoofing attempts by screening the liveness of the finger being presented. “With the help of Aratek’s patented algorithm, the A700-M is able to tell a fake finger from a real one by analyzing the pores, ridges, consistency, and other characteristics,” Wu said, adding that such anti-spoofing capability plus the A700-M’s use of 256-bit AES encryption of data creates more crucial layers of security.
