How Aratek is helping to make the world a little safer
Terrorism has become the scourge of the 21st century, striking fear in many parts of the world. While some countries are at higher risks of terror attacks, not one can claim to be entirely safe from this threat. As a result, a great multitude have been forced to lead their lives under constant threat, not knowing when and where the next Big One would strike.
Fortunately, governments have begun to fight back. Recognizing that porous borders allow terrorists to slip in and out of countries undetected, authorities have tapped biometric technologies to effect stricter border controls.
A country in South Asia, for example, has partnered with Aratek to bring high technology to the war against terror.
Anyone attempting to cross into the country’s border are required to be identified through the biometric verification system. After presenting their National IDs, they are then required to press their fingers on Aratek fingerprint mobile terminals for capture and identification.
The device is connected to the central database through 3G/4G network, allowing border patrols to pull up the credentials of the card holders within seconds using AFIS (Automatic Fingerprint Identification System). Instantly, patrols are able to determine whether the card holders are to be allowed entry or detained as terror suspects.
This simple and ingenious solution has enabled authorities to apprehend fugitives in the region and has resulted in reduction of terror incidents within the country.
More importantly, it has allowed citizens to feel safer and more secure, allowing for a higher quality of life.
