Aratek recently announced the formal debut of the high-performance A700 fingerprint scanner which boasts of FBI PIV/Mobile ID FAP30 certification.
“The FBI FAP30 certified Aratek A700 is a full-featured optical fingerprint scanner. It specifically engineered to fill the needs of a growing number of applications requiring a higher standard of reliability. As early as its successful soft launch in 2020, we found the market already primed for such a premium product,” noted Samuel Wu, VP for International Business Division.
The FAP30-certified A700 features a large sensing area measuring 20.32 X 25.40 mm which covers a much bigger surface area and captures more biometric data from fingerprints resulting in large high-quality images of 400 X 500 pixels, exceeding the requirements of even the most demanding applications. It also has a distortion rate of less than 1%.
In a 2014 comparative study of scanners, the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) rated the performance of FAP30 scanners: “on a par with (if not slightly better than) the uncropped control case.”
The A700 uses a Live Finger Detection (LFD) system to guarantee the liveness of the specimen and deter spoofing. In addition, the platen is of superior material that leaves neither smudges nor fingerprint residues. It uses sensors sensitive enough to read prints regardless of whether the finger is dirty, dry or moist. It also takes advantage of Aratek’s patented algorithm to drive fast matching speed of <0.1 sec for 1:1 / <0.5 sec for 1:N.
“We take security seriously,” Wu said, adding that “the A700 uses AES-256 encryption to ensure unparalleled security while data is in transit.”
The Aratek A700 fingerprint scanner supports auto correction and 360-degree rotation authentication. It can easily and seamlessly join in the Aratek TrustLink biometrics authentication platform for greater coverage. The A700 scanner also has a comprehensive SDK to spur development and foster deeper integration into existing systems. It supports a wide array of OS such as Windows2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7 / 8 / 10, Android and other embedded systems for greater interoperability.
Being part of the Aratek ecosystem, the A700 is compatible with the version of TrustFinger SDK being used in both A400 (FAP10) and A600 (FAP20) fingerprint scanners. This affords users of all three fingerprint models the ability to run the exact same software.
“This compatibility makes all models work together in useful ways and could offer tremendous advantage to select developers,” noted Wu. The Aratek A700 fingerprint scanner is suited for the tough demands of network security, hospitality, banking and finance, telecommunications, law enforcement and healthcare.
